The ‘s we’ve got running are for general use – VMware and other infrastructure applications such as Exchange and File and Print. I know the MSA is relatively new, and I saw the post recently that 3. Please enter a title. I’d like to hear from everyone possible. I’m sure there are many storage options at this point, and the forums are a good place to start looking for recommendations won’t be surprised if you get a lot of responses to your message. There are also cases where a vendor will support a component and VMware won’t – but those are much more rare. So, not too much contention at all.

I suspect that’s what it was doing at the time. Until last week, for example, the EVA and wasn’t even on the VMware supported list, even though those platforms have been available for use for ages on the HP list.
The serial port interface contains some commands that allow you to do a performance capture, stop a capture, and view the result. So far, one possible problem might be the fiber channel card and it negotiating to Arbitrary Loop direct connect instead of as an F-Port connected to a fiber channel switch. Welcome to the club. Anybody else have continuous problems with these? Cost is a huge factor.

They said they’re still investigating and will be in touch on Monday. The best course of action I can suggest is that you ask your HP consultant to pull an up to date SPOCK report for you on what adapters and firmware is supported for the MSA, then use that to ensure all the components throughout your storage stack comply. What i have done is, limit the potential backup operations at a single time to a maximum of 1 and thus decreasing the potential SCSI Reservation errors, because i still believe that they are your issue as well, scsi reservation errors resulting in a locked up msa system.

I’ve done some reading. I sent a message to HP’s support to see what they have to say about this. There are also cases where a vendor will support a component and VMware won’t – but those are much more rare.
I’ll be in touch after I hear the next steps toward a solution. We have a MSA our site for about 3 years now, since it is in use, every once in a while we have seen exactly the same behavior, mostly every 3 to 4 months, with all firmware levels this had ce to me 4.
This content has been marked as final. I was using our msq1500 as were many customers at that time, but the controller that failed is actually not utilized all that much. HP Support “did” ask for some additional configuration information, including FC switch config, so I’ll be providing that soon.
Good luck with HP in this matter, hope you get some constructive feedback of them that you can share with the community, i haven’t got any regarding these issue’s in the past from them. I would not advise upgrading to 7.
Or are they used for other purposes?
Might be more expensive, but if it works We have quite a cx out in the field with very few problems, though. For root cause analysis, just beware that you’re still changing two things at once here both software and the hardware unitso you may not be able to tell what fixed the problem if it’s stable afterwards.
How can you have a default config in your FC switches??

Please type your message and try again. Hopefully the MSA is the answer, but I won’t be holding my breath. Msz1500 last controller failure happened after 23 days of almost continuous use.
Do the EVA disks have this limitation? What fiber channel switch and firmware are “you” using if you are currently having problems with the MSAcs?
Well for me i dont trust the msa verry much to many negative experiences, i have more confidence in the eva solution that has proven for a decade that it is a good storage solution. So, not too much contention at all. I’d like to hear from everyone possible. The ‘s we’ve got running are for general use – VMware and other infrastructure applications such as Exchange and File and Print. Maybe we have a bad fiber channel switch? I was in Kenya recently!
