It’s easy – really I read somewhere that you need the TPM chip enabled to use the fingerprint reader, tried that but it did nothing for me. Is there any ETA on the fix.

I tried the fingerprint reader with the preinstalled Windows 7 32 bit – didn’t work.
Probably it doesn’t work with fprint brodcom ThinkFinger. Is there any ETA on the fix. In any case, the easiest way es just trying both biometric fingerprint projects available in Ubuntu’s repos. I was mistaken at first, but it doesnt even work in Vista which came preloaded.

Yes me too, It would be great to get the fingerprint reader working, with one or two other issues sorted out, I could then proceed to get rid of vista all together. Hi all, I resolved this problem, i had to upgrade firmware of CotrolVault chip can download as Dell recommended. Tnaks a lot fonfi! It’s a shame though, this notebook cost me 1. The fingerprint reader is ddell and does respond, but the ControlPoint software throws an error if I try to enroll my fingerprint the error doesn’t show up if I don’t touch the sensor.
