I even tried removing and finding again the device from device manager and all went well, but DigitalPersona Personal kept saying that fingerprint reader isn’t connected. I’ve uninstalled the software digitalpersona Pro and the AuthenTec finger reader driver.
I’m running on Ultimate Vista 64bit.

Saturday, October 11, 3: Tuesday, October 7, 3: I can still see the update in update history and it says the installation failed. The fingerprint sensor was working fine until Windows updated aees2501a driver about a week ago.

To fix this issue go to device manager, then under personal identification devices, right click on the authentec fingerprint reader. Go through the list in this article to troubleshoot this problem. I have windows updates set to ask me first, but this one has a mind of it’s own. Just remember to remove the old driver first. I have the excact same problem, but none of the topics from the link are relevant in my opinion.

Thanks Deathpong this worked for me, just roll back the driver, to easy. I have disable, deleted and reinstalled, everything.
